3 Ways to Shift Your Perspective When Business Gets Challenging

Today I’m going to be talking about 3 ways you can change your perspective when business gets challenging. One of the ways is actually something I recently shared in my social media, but I’m going to recap that one as well so you get all three.

So first things first, I want you to think about this: When things get challenging in business, what do you do?

When you feel uninspired, or when things feel out of control, or when you find yourself disappointed in an outcome, what do you do?

The unevolved version of me let the challenging circumstances take over me. They would take over my entire mind and body like a virus. I’d ruminate. I’d lose sleep. I’d feel total despair. I’d cry and get angry. I’d pray and ask God why I was being punished. Somehow I’d think it was all my fault and I’d make myself feel smaller and smaller. I was the quintessential victim. Everything was happening to me, and I had no way out or around it.

But luckily Christina has evolved. I’m no longer the person I was so many years ago. I’m not even the person I was a month ago.

Here are a few ways that you shift your perspective (and most likely your perception) when things get challenging in business or in life.

In this video, we talked about:

  • 3 ways to shift your perspective when things get challenging,
  • Why challenging scenarios and circumstances are inevitable in business building,
  • How this all comes down to the quality of perseverance,
  • A dream I had about perseverance and what it means for you
  • What we do have control over when it comes to facing challenges, and
  • Questions to ask yourself for some self-reflection!

Are You Persevering

Are you persevering?

I had the most interesting dream last night about persevering.

In the dream, I had to hold onto the side of a large ship with a bunch of other people in order to ride out a series of giant waves. It was scary for me at first, but then became fairly easy once I grounded my footing and allowed myself to move with the current. The people who chose to ride the waves (myself included) were rewarded.

This dream doesn’t take a lot of interpretation to understand what it means, and I find it can be relevant to us all. I believe that it was a reminder to simply ride the waves of life.

Are you riding the waves? Are you secure in your footing, flowing with the current, and trusting that you won’t let go? In other words, are you persevering?

Whether you are just starting a business, in new territory or more seasoned, the current around you is always changing. The waves of life will lead you in new directions, carry you far beyond your comfort zone, and even leave you feeling adrift, lost and “off the map.”

But you do have some control. You get to decide how you’ll ride those waves.

(And by the way, the L.I.F.E. Method helps you discover the how, so that you can be ready for wherever the tide takes you.)

Here’s going with the flow AND making some waves.

This Might Be Why You’re Not Upleveling Your Business

This Might Be Why You’re Not Upleveling Your Business

As an entrepreneur, I’m constantly looking for ways to put me and my business out there. It wasn’t always like this though. For so long, I tried to stay behind-the-scenes and low profile. I was afraid of visibility, like so many of us are. I got by, but by the time I made my pivot to exclusive e-learning in 2020, I knew that old strategy wasn’t going to last.

Fast forward to mid-2021, and I have a solid plan of action for my business. I have clarity around what I do, who I help, why I do it and how. I have daily and weekly tasks and objectives to ensure that I stay consistent with my strategy. And I am actively challenging myself with mindset work through a variety of resources and leaders.

I know better than anyone that entrepreneurship is more often than not a long game. You’ve got to stick with it. And not only that, you have to flow with it. As someone who’s been in business for over 8 years now, my company has evolved from something similar to a marketing agency to the brand name that it is today. The mission, message and methods have changed as well.

Here’s the thing – even though I’m aware of the long game, even though I’m doing the work, even though I’m showing up, I get impatient. And because of my impatience, I question everything – the messaging, the strategy, the offer. I haven’t quite grasped the notion of going with the flow and trusting the process. It’s hard to do so when I’m so used to and comfortable taking the steering wheel myself.

While trusting the process is part of my dilemma, I also know that change begins with me. And so, I’ve had to ask myself: Am I too comfortable with what I have in front of me? Is that why I am not upleveling? Is what I have right now serving me so well that I don’t feel the urge to expand myself even more?

This urge doesn’t necessarily translate to doing more; but perhaps not thinking big enough. Am I thinking big enough? Am I doing big things? Or am I comfortable with what I’m doing and with where I am so much so that I’m subconsciously self-sabotaging and feeling that “upper limit” hit the ceiling?

The answer is something I still need to discover, but I have decided to do my L.I.F.E. Method over again to find out. The interesting thing about the method is that once your life starts to look like what you’ve mapped out, it’s time to expand and think bigger. Personally, I believe that I have subconsciously set an upper limit that I need to challenge, and luckily the method will set me up for the next uplevel.

So, ask yourself: What circumstances in your life are serving you so well that you’re comfortable with them? Is there a need to uplevel? And if so, how do you stretch yourself a little more to get there?

Video - 3 Habits to Make Content Planning Easier

Video: 3 Habits to Make Content Planning Easier

Your content isn’t something that is “out there” that needs to be found. It’s not in the feeds you scroll, the books you read, the case studies you pull. It’s not outside of you. It’s within you.

What do I mean by that? I’m referring to your stories, your perspective, your opinions, your own transformation. Share them all! And the following three habits will help you do just that.

Number 1: It’s okay to be repetitive.

Here’s the thing – we want to be repetitive when we market ourselves. We want to be known for something. We want to state again and again and again what truly matters to us about what we do and why we do it because that is the only thing that will bring people in and bring them back for more.

Number 2: Stick to what you know.

It’s so easy to get caught up in thinking that we have to come up with incredibly creative or complex or long-form content every time we post something and that is simply not true. If you are doing what you are truly meant to be doing and have a fierce passion for it, you have a never-ending library of things to talk about. Your opinions don’t expire. You won’t run out of words one day. Your perspective is always fresh. Your story is magical.

Number 3: Be vulnerable.

Experts start off at ground zero too. Every single entrepreneur has their highs and lows. You want to share both. Gone are the days of the highlight reel. People want to see you actually be real. They want to see how you have overcome the obstacles on your path so that they may have hope that they can overcome theirs. They want to see you that you have struggles and challenges too, because that makes you human. That makes you relatable. But your higher perspective and passion in the face of those obstacles will make you their hero. Don’t you want to be seen as a hero? Start by showing up as one.

In this video, we talked about:

  • The wake-up call I had about messaging and my content strategy,
  • The type of content that actually matters,
  • 3 habits to keep it easy,
  • The one rule you need to remember about marketing,
  • What to ask yourself when you get stumped on content planning, and
  • A few prompts to get you started!

You are the Content

You Are the Content

I’m all about messaging. It’s my primary focus in the marketing arena and one that I’m absolutely obsessed with talking about, no pun intended. As a result, I talk a lot about providing value, which usually comes in the form of free content, in an effort to build trust with your market.

Here’s the thing though – relationships take trust and trust takes time build. Because of this, it can get overwhelming to think of new and fresh “value” to provide to your audience every week. Marketing is a long game, and success rarely happens overnight. I know from my own personal experience that brainstorming topic ideas for daily and weekly content can be a struggle.

But then I remembered… I am the content. I am the value. I am the message.

You Are the Content

Your content isn’t something that is “out there” that needs to be found. It’s not in the feeds you scroll, the books you read, the case studies you pull. It’s not outside of you. It’s within you. It’s from the heart.

Now, this may seem contradictory to all of the latest and greatest marketing rules that are out there. You are told time and time again to “niche down” and “provide value through content” and “share how-to articles.” All of this has a place in the marketing world, but there is no standard protocol to marketing.

Here’s one rule I want you to remember about marketing: There are no rules. Marketing is ever-changing, ever-evolving. There isn’t a single “right way” to bring people and profits into your business. When you approach marketing from the standpoint of service, you get to approach your messaging from the standpoint of service, too.

So, instead of constantly asking yourself, “what should I talk about today?” Ask yourself this: “What can I share today that will inspire/light up/motivate another?”

Maybe it’s a story, maybe it’s a quote (of your own!), maybe it’s a series of questions or prompts, maybe it’s some entertainment, or maybe it’s a freebie. Whatever it is, it comes from within you. But most importantly, notice the wording difference from what you should do to what you can do.

The point is this: You are the content. The value is you – your stories, your perspective, your experiences, your own transformation, your own light that will light up another.

3 Ways to Embody Your Dream Business

In this live training, I dive into the 3 ways you can begin to embody that desired life of yours.

Just a caveat though: I’m not necessarily referring to embodiment as manifestation. The word manifest and the way that it is talked about today isn’t necessarily something that I vibe with. I believe that we can manifest things into our lives, but I don’t believe that we have full control and I don’t believe that we call in anything that would be perceived as bad or hurtful. I believe in soul evolution, that we move through feelings and experiences to grow, and I also believe in the four levels of consciousness.

The four levels are also something I talk about within my signature program. The four levels are “to me,” “by me,” “through me,” and “as me.” I move a bit through the consciousness of “by me” which would be considered manifesting but I believe I move more “through me” because I see myself and my purpose as more fluid and universal as a co-creator. “As me” sounds like pure enlightenment, but I have experienced a few moments of that and it’s ethereal.

Believe it or not, your success all begins with you. No plan, strategy, formula or next steps will get you where you want to be without you at the helm, fully invested in the vision.

So let’s get started!

In this video, we talked about:

  • The one word that gets me through dark, challenging times,
  • The simple answer I got to a big question I had during my meditation this week,
  • 3 ways you can embody the ideal business of yours,
  • How The L.I.F.E. Method makes embodiment possible,
  • Why your success all begins with you, and
  • How embodiment helps you make decisions from a place of trust.

When We Embody We Receive

When We Embody, We Receive

Last week, I shared what I learned about myself after completing The L.I.F.E. Method recently. This week, I’m going to talk about how this knowledge informs the way we embody and approach “putting ourselves out there” in a totally new, intentional and mindful light.

First things first though, before we embody, we must be fully aware of the power within us to actually embody, change, and become. After all, the life (business, relationships, etc.) of your dreams will only come as fast as you’re able to fully receive and sustain it.

On my social media platforms, I posted a picture of my son and I that was taken a year ago this weekend. When I first saw it, I felt like it took place 5 years ago. This was before my business pivot and before I created my signature program. This was before I changed everything in my business so it was aligned with who I am and what I want.

We evolve and change moment to moment, but I can say with absolute certainty that there has been no greater growth in my life than that of the past year.

And if I could pinpoint only one factor that has had the biggest transformative effect on me over that time period, it would be the method that I created so that I could design my life and business consciously, intentionally, with my soul leading the way.

Change is possible. Reality is malleable. Your identity, your circumstances, your future are not fixed.

During a meditation I did earlier this week, one of the questions I was pondering was: “How do I harness the power that is within me and longs to be realized?”

The answer I got is to simply believe in it. To believe in the power that exists within you and your capacity to utilize it.

Remember: If you can dream it, you can build it, but first you’ve gotta believe in it.

Remember Why You Started Your Business

Remember Why You Started Your Business

This week I celebrated my 34th birthday and my 8-year business anniversary. Normally I celebrate “out loud” with events, parties, friends and social activities. This year though, I went within myself. I reflected.

June has been a particularly challenging month for me. I still feel as though I’m in new territory with my business (ever since my pivot last year), and because of this, I still worry a lot about where this is all going… and whether or not I can truly make it happen. I assume many entrepreneurs also get these thoughts time to time.

So to dig deeper into this, a wise friend told me to think back on my why. “Why did I start this business? And most importantly, why did I pivot?”

Was it seriously just to make money? No, I can make money doing anything.

Was it to put myself on display and become “influential” and generate a large following? No. I don’t need that type of validation.

I started this business to serve. And if I’m going to serve others, it’s going to be through the only way that truly know how… Guiding you to show up, be seen and shine through soul-led, intentional marketing.

  • Because I know what it feels like to be in a stressful 9 to 5 office job, with the deep desire to live each day on my own schedule without having anyone to answer to but me.
  • Because I know what it feels like to have a deep passion for something that matters to me and a profound longing to share it with others.
  • Because I know what it feels like to wake up in the middle of the night anxious and scared that I won’t be able to make a living doing the ONLY thing that lights me up.
  • Because I know what it feels like when I impact another person through sharing that light – by simply being myself and doing what I do best.

There is no one right way to build the business that you want. All it takes is for you to own your brilliance, create your vision and step into the powerful leader that you are.

I’ve figured out the pieces of business building that actually matter, that have the power to disrupt the business building process and make it truly empowering, fun and even magical for those willing to do the work. And it does take work to build the life and business of your dreams.

So… for one more week, my signature program is available for 50% off – the only time I will ever make this type of offering available.

Are you ready to do the work and fulfill your why?

Video: How to Break Through the Creativity Block

I’m a big fan of talking about all things related to creativity and expression.

One resource that has really inspired me about creativity and that I regularly turn back to is a book called Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. It’s a collection of stories, experiences and perspectives of what creativity is, how it works, how it finds us and how we can work with it. I refer back to it again and again for inspiration.

Another resource that has reframed my thinking about creativity is the following quote: “Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path.” For me, creativity lies at the root of this quote. Creativity isn’t necessarily the storm itself, it’s your interpretation of it.

And right now, I think a lot of people are distracted by some sort of storm.

In this video, we talked about:

  • A few resources about creativity that I find inspirational,
  • The current state of affairs with many business owners I know,
  • What I’m doing now that is radically different from what I’ve done in the past,
  • The realizations that I’ve made in my most recent review with The L.I.F.E. Method,
  • What the method can do for you in terms of creativity, and
  • Reminder about a few special offerings I have for my birthday month this June!

The Time is Now to Review Your Life

The Time is Now for Your LIFE Review

“Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path.”

That’s the funny thing about life. We are often in the mindset of: “Why is this happening to me?” Rather than, “How is this happening for me?”

I can’t tell you how many people have said to me over the past few weeks, “Christina I’m feeling creatively blocked. My communication is “off.” I’m simply unable to show up for my business at the moment.”

I’ve certainly been feeling it myself. I’ve been feeling uninspired and unmotivated to show up as consistently and passionately as I had in the past. I don’t think it’s necessarily a loss of interest in my business. I think it’s more likely a much needed breath of fresh air to create intentionally again.

It’s easy to get caught up in the mindless hustle and forget that what we are really wanting to do is bring forth that mindful magic.

I follow a variety of astrological and spiritual podcasts, blogs, industry leaders, etc., and so, I know that there are some major forces at play this month. I was expecting the low energy and the heaviness that this month would bring.

However, instead of what I would have done in the past – which consists of pushing myself to work through it, forcing the words and messages to come out of me, and efforting my way through this challenging time, I’m doing something different.

I’m taking it slow and steady.

I’ve been quieter on my platforms, easier on my schedule, and more flexible with my workflow. I have a few birthday month promotions going on, but for the most part, I’m letting things be. I’m observing my emotions and behaviors and triggers.

And most importantly, I’m doing a major review of my life through The L.I.F.E. Method mini course. (Yes, I refer back to my own method too when I need it.)

Now more than ever, we have the opportunity to really be intentional about how we want to live and work. And even more, we have the ability to reveal more of the “why” behind what we do, who we help, and what we offer. This knowledge creates everything. It creates our strategy, our schedules, our messages, etc.

And so, this week I’ll be diving heart first into my method to discover what I need to focus on right now so that my next moves are intentional and informed.

How will you use this time to review, reassess, re-strategize, and refresh?
