You'll Stop Saying This when Marketing Yourself

My Ultimate Goal: You’ll Stop Saying & Thinking This while Marketing Yourself

People who end up as clients usually come to me with one of the following statements as it relates to marketing yourself:

“I have no idea what to say about the work that I do.”

“I don’t know what to focus on when I’m talking about my work.”

“I do the same thing as everyone else in my industry.”

“I don’t know where to start (or I don’t know how to build momentum.)”

“Marketing is hard.”

Here’s how I turn each of these statements around:

“I have no idea what to say about the work that I do.”

This is a very common setback I find in helping people market themselves. One of the biggest reasons business owners say this is because they’re not laser-focused on the actual transformation they provide. They make it about big-picture results – more money, more happiness, more success, more flow, but what they actually need to do is focus in. How do you get someone from point A to point B? What is the method, system, approach, etc. that you’ve created that helps someone overcome something and why is it so impactful? This is what you sell.

My guarantee: When you work with me, you’ll walk away knowing exactly what to say about what you do – the actual transformation you provide.

“I don’t know what to focus on when I’m talking about my work.”

You focus on what you do and why you do it. The “how” is the actual service offering that happens when you’re working with someone. This could also help alleviate any concerns about giving too much away when we market ourselves. When you’re giving the what and the why, you’re sharing belief-shifting objectives that help someone understand the truth of your work, why it matters so much and how it will help them.

My guarantee: When you work with me, you’ll walk away knowing exactly what to bring your content home to each and every time you share something – your main message and unique selling point.

“I do the same thing as everyone else in my industry.”

No service is the exact same. No experience is the exact same. And that’s because you are not the exact same as anyone else. Even if what you say you do is similar to someone else – what you say about it is entirely different. Your voice is the anchor to your work. The unique perspective and differing point of view is what you need to focus on in selling.

My guarantee: When you work with me, you’ll walk away knowing your unique point of view about what you do and how to sell it in all of your marketing activities.

“I don’t know where to start (or I don’t know how to build momentum.)”

Put a plan in place! Once you understand what you’re going to say about what you do, once you understand how to talk about it in a way that magnetizes people to you, create a strategy around it. In what formats and in what ways can you share this message?

My guarantee: When you work with me, you’ll walk away with a tangible, intentional and thoughtful strategy that you can start moving forward with ASAP.

“Marketing is hard.”

Here’s the truth: Marketing *can* be hard, if you don’t know how to communicate about what you offer. It starts and ends there. Once you have clarity, you can confidently craft a messaging and distribution strategy that accurately reflects that truth and have fun doing it.

My guarantee: When you work with me, you’re gonna love marketing yourself.
